Since 2016, the Government of Quebec has offered toll exemptions on Highways 25 and 30 to electric vehicle (EV) owners equipped with a transponder. This measure was temporary and aimed at encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. In the 2025–2026 Budget, tabled on March 25, 2025, the Government of Quebec confirmed that this measure will end as of April 1, 2027. Given the significant growth of the EV fleet in Quebec, the context that justified this measure has evolved.

The toll exemption for electric vehicles will end on April 1, 2027. As of that date, all trips made on Highway 30 with an electric vehicle will be billed according to the applicable toll rates.

No. Your transponder remains active and fully operational. No replacement is required. The only action needed is to register a valid payment method on your account to ensure uninterrupted service.

You must ensure that a valid credit card is registered on your A30 Express account before April 1, 2027. Please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your customer account at www.a30express.com.
2. Go to the "Payment Information" section of your dashboard.
3. Add a valid credit card and confirm the registration.
4. Select your replenishment method: automatic (recommended) or manual.
5. If you choose manual replenishment, make sure your account balance is sufficient before each use.

No. Registering a credit card on your account is completely free of charge. Your account will not be charged until April 1, 2027.

If you already have a valid payment method registered on your account, no further action is required. However, we recommend verifying that your card is not expired (and will not expire before the end of the exemption) and that your information is up to date.

Without a valid payment method registered as of April 1, 2027, your transponder will no longer be recognized as active, and the gate will not open automatically when you pass through. This may cause delays and disruptions for other users. Here’s what it means in practice:

• You will no longer have access to transponder-only lanes. You will need to use credit/debit payment lanes
• Wait times will be longer, as card payment lanes process transactions individually
• Traffic congestion may occur during peak periods, especially in the morning and late afternoon
