Free access to the toll bridge for electric vehicles
As part of its action plan in transportation electrification, the Quebec government has announced a series of measures, including allowing electric vehicles, under certain conditions, to use the Highway 30 bridge without being subjected to tolls.
Since January 1, 2016, vehicles meeting the conditions of the program are able to use the Highway 30 bridge without being subjected to the toll rate.
Certain conditions apply
Vehicles must be registered with a green plate from the Société de l’Assurance Automobile du Québec.
Vehicles must be registered and equipped with a transponder.
How to register and benefit from the program
Go to the A30 Express offices (5388 Pierre-Dansereau Avenue, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield) with the vehicle registered with a green plate to receive you transponder.
Install the transponder in the vehicle.
The free toll will only begin after registration with the A30 Express.
For the purposes of the Pilot Project, an "electric vehicle", as defined in the Highway Safety Code, means a passenger vehicle, bus or commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 4,500 kg. to one of the following categories:
All-electric vehicles being equipped with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery from the electrical network;
Extended-range electric vehicles being equipped with an electric motor, a rechargeable electric battery from the power grid and a gasoline generator producing electricity;
Hybrid vehicles that can be recharged from the power grid being equipped with an electric motor and a gasoline engine operating in combination, depending on the speed and acceleration of the vehicle.
